Removing Fish from Ponds, Pools and Rivers with Electrofishing
Electrofishing is a technique used to stun fish for a short period allowing them to be removed carefully with a net and then returned alive with no permanent harm done.
Henley Landscapes often use this technique prior to undertaking pond or pool maintenance. The idea being to catch the fish and move them somewhere safe whilst pumping or dredging silt and then return them to the cleaned water environment.
The technique is a two man job, one person discharges the electrofisher (which causes the fish to undergo a muscular spasm and swim towards a pole-mounted anode), the second person catches the fish.
An alternative to wading into the water with a backpack is to use a boat with anodes mounted off the bow and a dipping netto catch the stunned fish. Henley Landscapes have the equipment for both techniques.
If you need maintenance work carried out on a pond, pool, lake or river and need to protect the fish.
